Each year, the Retail Council of Canada (RCC) holds a conference called the STORE Conference, a two-day conference held annually in Toronto – with an agenda and networking opportunities targeted to the unique needs of the dynamic retail industry in Canada. On May 30, the RCC celebrated best-in-class retailers with the Excellence in Retailing Awards.
Mark’s had submitted for the Best Ecommerce Experience Award. Mark’s was up against stiff competition, but did come away the winner. It was a huge accomplishment, and came only a few weeks after winning the Best Paid Search Award at Etail Canada.
Some Highlights of Mark’s 2016 Ecommerce Experience Initiatives:
- Provide an immersive brand and browsing experience: to contextually weave in brand messaging and lifestyle imagery in order to develop brand recognition and gain trust with new customers
- Inspire browsing through a balance between “working tough, business casual, everyday casual, active inspired, and outdoor active”
- Provide ease of shopping and reduce friction in the purchase flow
- Support commerce at every touch point by being mobile responsive (device agnostic)
- Enhance the customer journey through research online to purchase in store
- Tap into the Quebec market by offering both English and French languages
Some Results From Mark’s 2016 Re-platforming:
- Total Year-Over-Year (YOY) Sales increased 69%
- Total YOY Visits increased 23%
- Total YOY Orders increased 65%
- Conversion Rate increased 34%
- Average Order Value (AOV) increased 2%
A huge congrats to the Mark’s team. This was a total team effort. As a result of the win, Mark’s has received dozens of media requests to discuss our initiatives, and what we had planned for 2017 and beyond.
